Breaking news: Discovery of a hitherto unknown Leonardo drawing
The following pages
with links below are reproduced from a selection of media

Some contain
inaccurate references about ownership and the circumstances of
finding the match. The RCMP or 'Mounties' were never involved
officially or unofficially. There was a consultation for a
second opinion with a retired RCMP fingerprint examiner. But,
overall the articles demonstrate well how much resistance there
is in the art world to introducing the time-proven reliability
of fingerprint identification - in this case it took ten years
to convince the rest of the art world. Finally, the ice broke only with
the world-wide media sensation the fingerprint match sparked.
The evidence could no longer be ignored.
In addition to the
press, the event was widely featured on television by the BBC,
CBC and many other networks. In contrast, only one scholarly
journal, Turner Society News paid any attention.

Biro's 2003 authentication of a lost major work by Jackson
Pollock created a media storm. These included appearances on
NBC Today with Matt Lauer, CNN, as well as many other
networks internationally. In print, from the Guardian,
London, to The Age, Australia, many covered the story.
